Hmm. I recently had a similar quasi-problem with my lover. She wasn't really wanting sex for a while. She got over it.

Take her out for a nice, romantic dinner. Get her to wear something that makes her feel sexy, and you'll be amazed at the results. Maybe.

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

This is going to be a bit ranty in parts, mostly b/c uh, well, you asked for advice, and this is seriously how I approach some of these things. It also rambles. >_>

"Toning down" spots is frankly, really hard.

Myself, I'm 5'11" and my weight varies between about between 150 and 170 lbs (I've hit, about 180 lbs max ever), so, I'm a pretty I guess average weight guy. Sometimes I'm a bit underweight if I've been stressing and haven't been able to relax enough, often enough to be able to eat. I actually prefer to eat alone, in silence. Than with people who I can't stand, or who I'm getting vibes that I don't like.

I really don't work out enough to make a massive difference, but 100-ish lb weighed squats, 120 lb hamstring pulls, 35 lb single-arm curls and 40 lb single-arm deadlifts are part of my routine (when... I'm still doing it. >_> I need to hit the wieghts again).

However, I'll tell you something, your gut will always be a pain in the ... well, gut to trim. My gut is well, soft. If I flex it, there's muscle under the inch of flab on top, but most people wouldn't think it looking at me at first. Also, crunches are tedious. Really, that's why I don't work out my gut as much as I should, I just don't spend the time on it.

You're better off levering the fact that you're a male and can shed pounds faster than the Titanic drowned people than spot-exercising your gut.

You just need to really watch your kitchening, read the ingredients of everything that you eat. Eat any watery fruit and vegetable that you can (Potatoes do not count, neither does corn, or bananas, and everyone knows it; they're starchy and full of calories).

You need to order a salad every time you have a chance to. Your body needs that roughage and you need the fiber anyway. Ordering a salad does not mean you can't have a burger or steak, it just means that you have to eat your salad first.

Really, it's the small choices that add up.

Ditching a regular pop habit, switching to juice, good juice, with no added sugar. That will help a lot in the long run.

Eventually switching over to water, get a Brita or a purifier, bottled water is too pricey, and the plastic bottles always give it a disgusting flavour. That will help even more. The water will keep flushing out toxins, you'll stop retaining water (the human body turns Camel-like when it's not given enough water, giving yourself water all the time will help your body give up any stored up water), and most importantly, you won't be drinking your calories (drinking your energy is very deceptive).

On water, it's going to have to taste good before you'll be able to drink lots of it. Tap water won't cut it. I used to cut my water with juice, until I got myself a brita water jug that would remove all the flavour from the tap water.

Also, I switched to stainless steel water bottles in september or october and I love it. I drink at least a litre of water a day, sometimes as much as 2 (usually 1.25 to 1.5 L of water; the rest I make up in juice from concentrate with no added sugar, or fruit nectar, which is juice not from concentrate).

On other food things, every little choice can, and will add up.

Not getting cheese and bacon on a burger; getting every condiment that's non-fattening and getting everything that is plant helps.

Of course, there's a balance to it. It's not all self-denial, it's about ... well, min-maxing your diet.

I mean, I never drink diet anything ever. I think that shit is a lie, and it tastes like shit anyway. I tend to always order barq's root beer if I can get it (no ice, b/c honestly, the extreme cold doesn't help); or coke if I can't. Or nearly anything else (ginger ale, sprite/7-up) if I can't get either of those two at a fast food place. If I'm buying an actual bottle of stuff (very rarely), it's ginger ale, I just like canada dry.

I also get mayo on my burgers, I'd get chili sauce too, but every place only carries ketchup, and I can't stand lots of sugar in my tomato, salt and vinegar (which, is what chili sauce is, it's... not spicy at all).

Fuck, I mean, I eat meat at all. My brother is a lacto-ovo vegetarian and he's in much better shape (and much more physically capable) than most people that eat meat. On the other hand, he's actually spent time at the gym working out (and not taking steroids, or using the gym as a place to act like a chatty bitch, like so many assholes that go to gyms tend to do; I mean, they do to the gym for at least an hour and they're not tired or sweating? wtf?) and he's taken quite a lot of krav maga training. While maintaining his vegetarian diet.

I ... well, I like to eat meat b/c it tastes good. I also like to make other meat eaters uncomfortable by describing to them the suffering that is involved in most factory farms, but I'm just a snide hypocrite.

Frank wrote a pretty good guide on the basics of eating on his blog.

Hope he's not paying for it.

Here's Krav Maga: Fist goes to testicles.

You can more easily kidnap people if you outnumber them 5 to 1.

There, everyone here is now a Krav Maga master.

EDIT: Oh, and before anyone challenges me, I won't fight anyone who spends hours a day learning to punch people in the balls in new and creative ways. I consider myself a tough sonuvabitch, but you really don't have to hit me in the balls more than once or twice to stop me.

There's also the parts about "how to disarm a fool that got within 3 feet of you with a gun" or "killing a fool that has a gun shoved against your head or at your ribs." This is usually practised with these really heavy rubber mock-ups. If you're holding the 'gun', you don't put your finger in the trigger gaurd; b/c the 'disarm' techniques almost all involve the step "make sure you break the gun-users trigger finger by wrenching the trigger gaurd on the finger and bending the gun away from you in just the right way."

Really, my brother has a need for the exercise, he gets a lot more fulfillment out of it, so the sparring and grappling was why he kept doing it. The "learning to fight" part was a side benefit, since he's really

The guy that was his instructor wanted to have my brother come back and teach karate to little kids (which my brother enjoyed) or adults (this was going to be acheived by the owner/trainer of this specific martial arts place giving my brother a black belt, the karate that this place teaches is very krav maga influenced, which makes sense. since the cheif instructor/owner was trained to be a krav maga istructor).

Right now my bro is letting his knee heal (he's a bit overeager, and a year and a half ago he did some damage while grappling with one of the other instructors).

Well, it's done, we're broken up, and in two days, I'm pretty much over it. Holy Shit. having friends to talk to helps, especially when one of those friends is several decades older and has "been there, done that"
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

Glad you found solace in having friends.

I still think that a regimen where you lift weights until you puke or shit yourself every day will work wonders for you though, just keep that in mind.

That's the good path to take. You might feel something a little later, maybe weeks or months from now, but that's natural. Now, do me a favor and listen to everything your older (wiser) friends say. Of all advice I should have minded when I was 19, you WILL REGRET GOING BACK WITH HER.

Congrats. From what it sounds like you weren't exactly happy for the last bit. On to the next one, right?

yeah, onward and upward, as it were.

I keep seeing the bright side and benefits to the relationship being done, so yeah, I wasn't entirely happy with things, apparently.
